GAA: St Anns Vs John Mitchells

This is the first time I have ever photographed GAA and I’m not sure why it has taken me so long because my first experience of it is that it is even better than soccer to photograph, players holding the ball longer and close proximity of the players to the ball make for good shots in my estimation, and GAA football looks to have plenty of that – think i’ll do this again
As for the game, Liverpool based John Mitchells (blue and yellow) were the favourites before the game and certainly looked the stronger side but some poor misses in front of goal and hitting the post some 4 times allowed a St Ann’s of Stretford (all blue) a glimmer of hope, particularly with a strong showing early in the second half – it wasn’t to be however as John Mitchells ended up winners by (I think) 4 points
If anyone from either club is reading this, I would be very grateful if you could point me in the direction of a fixture list – much appreciated

Excellent photos, i play for St Anns and i studied Photography at Uni, I used to be in Liverpool doing band stuff but just for mates, i’m in IT now as i’ve found no work of any quality or substance in the north so far and London is a bridge too far for me.
Just wanted to say gaelic ain’t the easyiest to photography and your photos are good quality.
Cheers Jp

JP – many thanks for the comments, its not the easiet gaelic but that sid, you do get opportunity for plenty of shots of players with the ball, unlike soccer. What is less good is scores, its very very difficult to catch that in gaelic sports IMO
