Helvellyn again…
My 3rd outing on Helvellyn this year, and in fact 2nd in about 3 weeks – this time with Jenny Richard and Penny and with champagne and cake at the top as penny can’t make their wedding in a couple of weeks – beautiful weather again
Great Gable and Skiddaw
Went up to the lakes last weekend to do a couple of big* hills we haven’t done before – great Gable and Skiddaw.
Near the top of Great Gable there is a cairn called Westmorland Cairn – the view from this is pretty amazin – In this photograph you can make out the outline of the Isle of Man to the left of me and to the right dumfries and Galloway in Scotland.
*by English standards… Great Gable is 899 meters/2949ft and Siddaw is 931 meters/3054 feet
Helvellyn & Langdale
Myself, Laura, Warren & Holly headed up to Glenridding to do Helvellyn via striding edge – despite some early navigation difficulties eventually finding out way up…
the next day was a drive round to Langdale to get up to Stickle Tarn by walking up the ghyll
