So this is how it feels

FC United 1 Bradford Park Avenue 1

This was devastating. Since the formation of FC United the club have managed promotion every succesive season, for much of this season that looked unlikely but FC came rallying back toward the end and made a phenomenal surge to reach the play-off stages, with the last game of the season being in effect a play off to reach the play-offs – whoever won against Bradford Park Avenue would go into the play-offs…. neither won and the play off place goes to Kendal… its gutting.

Marine 2-3 FC United

Great game, a must win for FC who took the lead, only to go behind and then bring the score to 2-2 at HT. Second half FC looked by far the stronger side and deservedly won.

Off the pitch the ‘Battle Zone’ predicted by the police predictably never happened, leaving 21 officers, three sergeants, four mounted police, several dogs and a force helicopter to make arrests for cannabis posession and breaking bail conditions.

Garforth 1 – FC United 2

Entertaining enough game, sending offs, goals, controversy and another trip to yorkshire marred by trouble off the field, how this happened with what looked like every policeman in the county present is beyond me.

Clitheroe 0 FC United 3

Not a great selection of photos tonight – my usual excuse of light is being dragged up, but its something I really have to work on – shooting f2.8 and still struggling with the light – that said the lights at clitheroe are better at one end than the other and the 2nd halfs shots were better.

FC United 2 – Wakefield 1

For whatever reason this is actually my first home game of the season, it seems like a long time since I have been at Gigg Lane, and yes, it is good to be back.

Especially now with, Course you can Malcolm on pre-game.. Andy Vaughn, the wiganer behind the excellent ‘mud huts’ fanzine was there entertaining with his stories of following Wigan in 1978, when Wigan were at about the same sort of place that FC United are now, all this is part of his promotion of hs book Punk Football

Music was from Smith, who told me their myspace site, but unfortunately I can’t remember it.

As for the football… well, it was good to get a win, 2 great free kicks provided both goals for FC, and it wasn’t a classic, and neither were my photos, a grey miserable day, constant focussing problems from me and my lens meant nothing too outstanding from today.

Fleetwood Town Vs FC United

Apologies for the delay in getting these photos up – I’ve actually had them uploaded for ages but never wrote the necessary post – anyway – will be making an effort to post a bit more.

Not a good game of football, trouble from Fleetwood fans marred the start of the game – and the rest of the game was marred by poor finishing in front of goal by FC.

nerves

My first ‘proper’ FC game of the season and it wasn’t pretty – FC having missed fortunes at the start of this campaign with 2 defeats and one 5-0 win – Rossendale made it tough, quick to close down but 2 FC goals from a free kick and a penalty got the points despite the best goal of the game coming from Rossendale.

I have often said that one of the greatest things about watching FC is the chance to see parts of Lancashire that I wouldn’t normally get to see and today was another such day – credit to the Rossendale Football Club who put on bands, barbeques, bars and stalls in the car park – possibly the best that FC fans have been treated on our travels
